Another Well Deserved Thank You to a Valued Family

Just a matter of three weeks ago we made our unofficial announcement of our new family portrait program.  Below is a highlight from our second family.  Just like the previous one Kelly and her family were a blast to work with.  While I could write a paragraph about the session and how fun it was I prefer to let you read it in her words.  Be sure to see our testimonial page where you can read her words!

Thank you Kelly.  You and your family were awesome!

New Public Display Continued..

For those of you following yesterday’s post I am happy to say we have added a couple of images that will be displayed at the Waterfront Place Building.

I selected the first image below because it represents one of the key fundamentals that I teach and live by here at my studio.  Look for art in everyday life!  While at Bradley Park in Peoria, I saw this scene.  The significance of this scene is that I was looking in the opposite direction playing with my kids and normally would not have had a camera in hand.  Today though I was there hoping to catch some moments of my family for my own use.  While I certainly accomplished that task I was presented this scene by following on of the simple rules I like to use when photographing.  LOOK!  Sound simple and yet silly but this scene was nowhere in my line of sight.  Something yelled turn around in my head and there it was.  To get the angle I needed I climbed to the top of the jungle gym and captured the scene.  The other key to this image was that I knew as I was shooting it what would be done postproduction.  This is what I call “seeing” the image.  Digital has given us the ability to capture hundreds if not thousands of images all with out the regard for the final image.  It is so easy to delete the images that we don’t like later.  I heavily encourage the students in my digital classes to stop doing this.  Obviously this image was edited postproduction to produce the painted effect you see in it.

The second picture was a result of a relationship formed prior to us ever picking up the camera.  Here the wind effects are real.  This couple desperately wanted some pictures by one of their favorite ponds.  Once again had I just settled on that request this picture would have never happened.  Their trust in me, and their devotion for each other, made this shot possible.  With a little help of Mother Nature I had very little if anything that needed to be done to this image!

Congratulations Connie and Jason!

Just wanted to take a brief moment and send out a personal thank you to Connie and Jason.  They shared their wedding day with us and we had a blast.  The reception was definitely one to remember and I can’t remember a time where I went home with my stomach hurting from so much laughter.

Thank you guys, you were awesome!

New Public Display

We are excited to announce that our work will be featured in the lobby of the Water Front Place building in down town Peoria.  We were approached just recently and asked to provide some work to decorate the walls.

We would like to take this time to thank the Zammuto family who graciously allowed us to display one of their family portrait images there.  In addition we will also have our cover shot image from one of our weddings and a limited edition riverfront picture.  Stop by the Illinois Antique Center and say hello.  While you are there tell them you heard about them here.

Water Water Everywhere

Well it appears mother nature is not quite done with her winter wrath.  The river is once again over it's banks and we are flooded.  Problem is this time it is even in our street so the fun life of river front living is taking it's toll on us today.  Not sure how long this will continue but only time will tell.   For those who wish to visit us yo can still get to the studio.  You will need to park along the side or back of the building complex and walk around to the front.  We promise to keep this updated incase we are forced to close for a few days.

Welcome

Welcome to our new blog! While still very much in the editing stages we hope to have everything set up by weeks end, including the new color schemes.  This post is for all of you out there who stop by from time to time.  Please, Please, write in and tell us what you would like to see on here.  Perhaps some instructional information, studio promotion updates, you name it we would love to hear your thoughts.

Send your ideas to info@michaelsartisticimagery.com.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and be sure to come back soon!
